What's a blog?

I never ever had a blog. Better said I had one. But it was pretty specific and clear what I will write there. The blog was about DTM, a motorsport series. In the prime time I had about 15-16k viewer for a single post. But life played it's lifey-things and I didn't have enough time for the blog. So it went in idle and also into forgetting it all. Besides some things it's rather rare I can do it constantly for a long time, so it also played it's part into it. So back to the point: I never had a kinda personal blog. My life was never so exciting to write about. I never traveled a lot. I never coded. So I thought I don't have anything to write about. And in 2026 I also thought blogs are dead. And...

I was wrong. I was on the hunt of a new search engine. I've used Startpage for several years. The quality of the searches went down. No wonder, they actually anonymise the output of the big search engines and filter out some crap. Qwant wasn't better. So I found Kagi and I thought: well, why not try it out. I checked some reviews (here in Germany and for me Kuketz-Blog is relevant) and checked out the official website. I noticed there is more than just the search engine. Kagi also have an app called 'Small Web'. It's purpose is to show little known blogs. Not just the big audience, everyone knows (besides me, because I thought blog is dead) blogs. I was reading for some days several blogs, and I somehow started to love the idea to spit out my thoughts, concerns, things of my life, probably into the void, but who cares. There are people out there in the political elite of countries, who say everyday nonsense bullshit. So why shouldn't I try to do the same? Thoughts have to come out. Even if it isn't a conversation with someone, it just helps to release some inner pressure. If you've ever been in a therapy, probably know this well.

On the Mastodon instance I'm registered some guys also started out with blogging with different purposes. They are also using Bear, so the choice was almost a no-brainer. I also have a domain, which I totally forgot, so maybe I even can have my blog on my own domain? That seemed for me always too crazy. Having your own website. Just for you. And now I have here my own blog. So let's see where this journey will get.
